Hi there friends,
I'm really pleased you are taking an interest in crafts - when I started doing crafts I remember I was always scared of making mistakes but that was how I learned!
Some people say they are no good at crafts or they don't have any patience. As for patience you have to learn to be patient: I think the secret is that you relax while you are doing crafts and a great way to do that is to find some quiet time for yourself, maybe even an hour at weekends, put on your favourite music and enjoy setting your creativity to work.
As for people saying they're no good at crafts, well, I can only say that everyone, and I mean EVERYONE has some creative ability or other - if you are good at cutting and gluing, why not try the decoupage section? Or you can try the papercrafts pages. Maybe you are feeling more adventurous and would like to try something new, you can go to the glass painting section and try this great craft. If you like painting, there is a detailed section all about acrylics. And why not try your hand at cooking? Check the recipes pages and ask an adult to help you. So you see, there's quite a variety to choose from. Start with something you enjoy doing and work your way up from there.
If you have any ideas you'd like to share do write to me at petalsandlacecrafts@yahoo.ca
Hope to hear from you.
Till then, Happy Crafting!
Doreen
P.S. don't forget to check out the Getting Started page and the crafts section. Have you started collecting items you can re-cycle?
REMEMBER TO FOLLOW THESE GUIDELINES:Prepare all materials necessary for your project.
Have everything ready at hand.
Keep all work surfaces clean and tidy. It is a good idea to have a wipe clean mat or plastic board to work on.
Be safety conscious. Ask an adult for advice.
Follow manufacturer’s instructions
especially for paints, glues, varnishes or sprays.
When using a craft knife work on a firm cutting board with a smooth surface, always cutting away from you. Ask for help if necessary.
If you use a glue gun be aware that the melted glue is very hot.
When ready, clean up carefully all
surfaces, jars, brushes, etc. after use.
