Donny Osmond (Donald Clark Osmond) was born on the 9th December 1957, the youngest of seven children. His family were mormons and he and his brothers and sister had a strict religeous upbringing; for example none of them were allowed to date before they were sixteen.
Four of his brothers Alan, Wayne, Merrill and Jay had already formed barbershop quartet, called 'The Osmond Brothers' when donny joined them at 4 years of age at nightclub in Lake Tahoe, Nevadaat. Billed as "a special added attraction," made his entrance in a top hat and tux, descending a long staircase, singing, "I'm a Ding Dong Daddy from Dumas." The same year Donny Osmond also appeared with his brothers  on The Andy Williams Show, a show on which they would appear regularly up until 1971.
He did not officially join the band until 1966 and the name of the band was shortened to 'The Osmonds'. You will find a more detailed biography and discography here. Also info on his brother Jimmy Osmond. Donny Osmond has his own official website
