Linking Math to Our Lives

A report from the "Rays of Mathematics", a group of students at Kings College Budo, Uganda
Assignment 1

We, the rays of mathematics, have discovered that what we do in a day can accumulate to days in a year. and this is what we came up with using mathematics.
We found that an average student in our school, Budo uses 8 hrs a day for sleeping this is 10 days a month and 122 days a year
Eating: 5 hours are used for eating and leisure a day. This is 5 days a month and 61 days a year.
Sports: 2 hours are used for sport daily after classes coming to 3 days a month and 36 days a year.
Classes: 9 days are spent on class a day, which is 12 days a month and 144 days a year.
So there remains 2 free days a year.

We have 5 fingers on each hand. Most people in many activities they do such as writing use 3 fingers at a time i.e a fraction 3/5, while others use 2 fingers 2/5. The ratio of majority to minority is 3/5: 2/5 = 6:4.
