Teaching Method:
The class will be held as a lecture with sufficient time allocated for questions and discussions. Students will get regular assignments connected to the topics. The lecturers will provide the students with electronic and printed materials they can copy for researching their paper. Power-point presentations used in class can be copied at the end of the class.
Grading:
The grades will consist of three components:
- Attendance and Participation: 30 %
- Midterm Assignment : 25%
- Final Paper: 45 %
Participation refers to the activity and interest shown by the student during class as well as smaller weekly assignmnets; the class midterm assignment will consist of a groupwork analysing a diplomatic casestudy; the final paper will consist of a 2500-4000 word paper in English or Bahasa Indonesia (Format A4, Times New Roman Size 12, Spacing 1,5; references and cover don't count as document body), the topic will be chosen in accordance with the lecturers and cover in detail one of the main topics or case studies of the lecture; Deadline for final papers is the 15st of January 2008.
Others:
Time managment: Both lecturers and students are allowed to be 15 minutes late to class. If the lecturer doesn't arrive within 15 minutes after the beginning, the lecture is post-poned to the next regularly scheduled date or to an extra date agreed upon with the students. Students arriving later than 15 minutes after the beginning of class will get a penalty regarding their attendance and participation scores.
Cellphones: Both lecturers and students have to keep their cellphones off during the lecture
