And as many of you probably know me. I was once very active in the Pittsburgh rave scene. I am still around of course, but not nearly as visible.
I didn't start attending parties until I was 19, even though I had wanted to go for years. I was already a fan of some of the music, and I had several flyers, but finally made it to one in State College in September of 1998. My next venture out wasn't until the party Ultimate in Pittsburgh in April 1999. Soon after it became a regular occurance.
During that year, my friend Cassie, a young, but longtime raver, decided to do something of her own. She enlisted me and some of her other friends into the project. We soon became known as A*S*B*4. Personal problems soon befell Cassie, and control was in my hands. With a lack of time and lack of money, I was able to pull together a small local partyin February of 2000, Cloud 9 . This would have been impossible without the aide of my crew (Katherine, Shera, and Nate), or without the help of the Infinite Velocity crew, the FESP crew, Dan Sidetrakkt, and Frank/Count Zero.
The party turned out to be a great success, and a memorable night for many that winter. ASB4 went on to throw Imagine in May, bringing in, for the first time, Toronto breaks DJ Marty McFly. Another great party, but lackluster attendance, due to the oversaturation of the scene at the time. The first DEMF festival was that same weekend, as well as Whistle, and a much-hyped, but undelivering Pittsburgh party the next day.
In December of 2000, I thew my last party. A completely solo effort, under the moniker Polar Productions. Grrr... was everything that I could have asked for. DJ information was given on here, and on paper courtesy of Andy and the Selekta . It had quality music, everything that I would want to listen to. Matt Bandy , an excellent deep house DJ from Lexington, had most people talking for days afterwards. Inanna , a female speed garage DJ from Boston, played a set that had everyone dancing. As well as the mixtape release of DJ Moose and DJ A (andythepooh). My personal highlight was the night's finale, with an acid jazz set by Ben Kenobi .
All of my events could not have occurred with without help and inspiration by certain people.
Thank Yous
