Chapter 4

Lance awoke suddenly at the sound of the alarm clock next to him. He shut it off quickly to stop the annoying noise. It was noon. He was still extremely exhausted, not from the dancing, but he had stayed up replaying the kiss he saw Lucy and J.C. share in the hallway the night before.

All he could do now is forget. He wished for them not to get together but he pushed that thought away quickly. He had to do what was best for her, and that was for him to move on and allow her to be happy with J.C.

He got up and got dressed quickly then walked down the hall to the conference / dining room. He opened the door to find Lucy and J.C. sitting at a table talking. He got some food from the buffet table and joined Lucy and J.C. when she signaled him over.

"So, do you have any idea what we are doing today?" Lance asked as he took a bite of his roll.

"Johnny just came in and told us we had the day off." J.C. answered.

"Yeah, we were planning on going to see a movie, want to come with us?" Lucy added.

"Nah, I think I'll just hang around here." He answered.

"Lance, you have to come with us though." Lucy said. "You guys haven't been able to go out for awhile!"

"Lucy I'm exhausted. I'm just gonna hang around the hotel and relax." Lance answered with a yawn.

"But Lance. . ." She started to whine.

"Lucy, don't worry about it. You guys go to the movies and have fun. I'll catch up with you later." Lance interrupted. He really did want to go with them but he didn't think he could stand a whole day of their flirting.

"Ok." Lucy agreed. "Get some sleep." She got up. "I'm gonna go get my purse than we can leave."

"I'm gonna go get my wallet." J.C. replied getting up behind her. "See ya later man!" Lance watched their retreating figures. There was really only one way to get over this, it was drastic, but he would do it.

"Do you think Lance has been acting a little strange?" J.C. asked Lucy questioningly in the limo on the way to the movie.

"Yeah." She replied. "I mean just yesterday he was telling there were about five movies he wanted to see and that the first chance he got to go see them he would."

"Maybe he was just really tired." J.C. trying to reassure both himself and Lucy that Lance was ok.

"That's probably it. He probably is just really tired." She said looking out the window.

They got to the movies and got out. They had to bodyguards with them, Lonnie and Wes. They bought their tickets and went inside. The sat down in the upper level of the theater. Lonnie and Wes sat a few rows behind them.

"This is nice." J.C. said. "I haven't been to a real theater with a girl I like in a long time."

"I know what you mean." She replied. "I've been so busy following you guys around for the past few years I haven't had anytime to do normal things."

"You know its fun being our groupie!" He replied smiling.

"It's interesting." She agreed.

He smiled and faced the screen. She did the same. After a while he looked at her again. His eyes gazed over her as she stared at the screen. The lights dimmed and he turned to face it. He looked down at her hand resting on the armrest. He slowly moved his hand from his lap and slipped it on top of hers. He slowly entwined his fingers into her much smaller ones.

He was a little shocked when she slowly started to run her thumb over his hand, but he smiled and returned the gesture.

Lucy leaned her head down and rested her head on his strong shoulder.

The movie ended and they walked out hand in hand. It was the beginning of a great day!

"So do you want to go back to the hotel or walk around." J.C. asked when they got outside of the theater.

"Why don't we walk around for a while. Its such a nice day out." She answered.

"It sure is." He agreed, not only talking about the day, but the girl standing next to him. They walked for a while with Lonnie and Wes not far behind them. The pair soon found a park and wandered around inside of it for a while. They wandered around until they came across a bench under a large tree. They sat down. They had talked about everything, the new album, the AMA's, even the clouds and small children running around.

"Lucy." J.C. said softly, interrupting the silence.

"Hmm?" She questioned as she leaned with her eyes closed against his shoulder.

"Lucy." He said again, this time she sat up and stared at him.

"Yeah?" She questioned. He looked at her and smiled.

"I know this sounds really corny, but, I want to kiss you again."

"That's not corny at all." She replied. "Because I've been thinking the same thing all day."

The moved closer and there lips met for a sweet kiss, but it didn't last long enough for either of them.

"J.C, Lucy, its about time we head back to the hotel." Lonnie said, interrupting their kiss.

"Ok, tell us when the limo gets here." J.C. quickly before kissing her again.

"The limos here J.C." Lonnie said.

"Ok. Where coming." J.C. said pulling away, frustrated. "We'll finish this later." He whispered.

"Ok." She whispered back.

They walked to the limo and got inside. Lonnie and Wes sat up front with the driver so they could have some privacy.

"J.C. I know this is going to sound like a stupid question but I have to ask it." Lucy said nervously.

"There is no such thing as a stupid question." J.C. replied with a smirk. "So go right ahead."

"Where does this leave us? Are we together like a couple, or what?" She choked out.

"I like to think that were together, like a couple, but the question is what do you think we are." He answered.

"A couple." She replied shyly.

"You have no idea how happy that made me." He replied giving her a sweet kiss.

The rest of the ride back to the hotel was in silence, but neither of them minded it.
