Traditions:

  • Drum major flip---in pregame the drum major struts through the band in full uniform(i.e. including the hat) and does a full front flip onto the 50 yard line, proceeds to go into a split to salute the crowd (press box) then gets up runs back downfield and flips for the student section. It is said that the outcome of the game is dependent upon if the drum major makes the flips.

  • Floating the Lions.....Our pregame hasn't changed in years and so it has become our trademark drill. We move from a block letter PSU formation into the word LIONS and march it down the field before reversing (and flipping it upsidedown) and marching it back!

  • Rookie high step.....in all of our parades we make our rookies high step the whole time...it's rough but hey...we had to do it!

  • Lolipops....Rookies must have lolipops for their entire section at every performance.
