THE COMPETITIVE ARENA

A number of levels of competition are

provided for by KZN Aquatics

JUNIOR RELAY LEAGUE

We compete in the "A" League. Last year we finished in 3rd position. Club swimmers up to & including 12 yrs of age are eligible for selection to our Club team. Participation is 4 swimmers per team. Swimmers will be chosen from Club Mini-gala events. At least 1 weeks written notification will be given. Swimmers selected are required to attend .If you are unable to participate ample notification must be given so that a replacement can be found. However it is imperative that our best team compete in order to maintain our position.

Strokes competed are Free, Back, Breast ,Fly and Medley.

1st LEG: Sunday 12 Nov 2000 Venue: Kings Park Pool

LEVEL 0 COMPETITIONS

This is the First level of competition mostly swum in 25m pools in the Greater Durban Area. Swimmers are required to register with KZN Aquatics - R30.00 per annum. No qualifying times are required as these times are not included in the SSA database.

LEVEL 1 COMPETITIONS

All gala's are held Long Course at KINGS PARK POOL. Swimmers register to KZN & SSA (Includes insurance) There is a time standard requirement for participation in this division. (Time standards are included in the KZN Booklet) Age is as day of swim.

Should a swimmer swim above these time standards during the year they will be permitted to upgrade to the higher level competition but will pay the full fee of R215.00 forfeiting any previous registration fees paid. Swimmers registered to 1st Division are not permitted to participate at these gala's. Times swum will be included in the South African Database & Ranking Magazine. The 2 start rule will apply at all gala's. Swims are per Individuals Age on day of gala. Swimmers registered to this division may participate at AFRICAN CHALLENGE providing they meet the qualifying time standards.

LEVEL 2/3 COMPETITIONS

(This level includes all 1st division registered swimmers)

Level 2 being African Challenge Qualifier's

Level 3 being S.A.Prestige Age Group & Snr National Qualifier's

Age is as day of swim. In the event of National Championships age is as 1st day of the tournament

All swimmers registered to this division are required to purchase a KZN Handbook. As information on gala dates, qualifying times etc are too varied to describe in full.

Time standards are available on request.

AGE GROUP GALA'S

These are open to all Level 1,2 & 3 Registered swimmers. The same program is followed monthly throughout the country. Swimmers swim their age at date of swim. Club swimmers finishing in the Top Ten in South Africa are awarded their CLUB COLOURS
