katie Melua Loves Queen
Singing sensation Katie Melua has professed her love for all things Queen.
Metro
Friday July 23rd 2004
Q: You've previously cited Queen as an influence but I can't hear much of them in your songs.
KM: Whatever music you listen to will come out of you in some way. Queen songs were so
amazing - their arrangements are really complicated but their songs still sound great if
you strip them down to just a vocal and an acoustic guitar. That's a value I took to my
record. I wasn't worried whether it was blues, jazz, pop or whatever - I wanted lyrics
and melodies that would still be amazing when I sung them raw
Katie also mentioned Queen yesterday in The Independent piece 'The World According to...'
Q: Who was your childhood hero?
KM: Freddie Mercury. I grew up in Georgia listening to Queen, because my uncles always played
their records. It was seeing Freddie on stage in the pirated videos we got in Georgia
(especially Live Aid) that inspired me to take up a career in music, although I
decided to do with out the spandex costumes.

Heads Up, 'Freddie Mercury's Millions' on BBC3 (UK DTV) Sun 25 July
Another Queen related TV shows.
Kevo on the notice board wrote:
Just to remind all UK DTV viewers that the doc 'Freddie Mercury's Millions' will be shown
this Sunday, 25 July and repeated at various times (on BBC3) in the following week.
These 'Liquid Assets' docs run for about an hour and go througs as much as the star's assets,
income etc to build a final total of his worth.
Should be interesting.
Different than the usual Queen/Freddie doc and should certainly be better than that C5 garbage
the other week!

Heads Up: Official Queen Photographers Website
Former official Queen photographer has a website, featuring many pictures of Queen.
Message from Queenzoner OK.computer:
Howdy
Just wanted to let fans know that I was browsing when I should have been drowsing and I
came across Denis Regan's website. Denis was an official photographer for Queen in
the 80's. His site has some fabulous photos, including impromptu, off-guard moments.
I'm only posting this for information purposes, but it really *is* worth a look.
Cheers
