Blue society is secret and closed. Though it is a 'democracy' in the sense that equal rites are granted to each Blue citizen, non-Blues are treated as second class and the slave populations have no staus at all. It is rumored that the Blues were once slaves themselves. History says a population of Goblins living on the gordohemnian isle were enslaved by the powerful Aboleths that laired in great underwater cities off their coast. It is said that over thousands of years of co-existence the psionic ablities of the Aboleths began to influence the Blues into not only changing thought but physical appearance as well -- the most obvious being their blue skin.

It is the accepted view that the Blues broke away from their Aboleth masters in a slave revolt and the 'leths are no more. But in recent years, a band of Revolutionaries called the Brotherhood Annulis (named after the psionic artifact that can anul psion powers with its massive spheres of influence) have started to make wild claims that the elected government of Gordohemnia is controlled by a group of powerful Aboleth mages... that the Blues never escaped at all -- they were released to establish a land empire for the Aboleths. These statements have been denounced as ludacris by the state.

The Gordohenmian Republic being an island takes full advantage of their good harbors and large fleet, and adept psions keep trade flowing between Glenneton and their other allies. The major Gordohemnian exports are the eyes of Almarus giant sapphire pearls that only Blues can reach in the depths of the ocean. Why Glenneton has not added Gordohemnia to its kingdom as a vassel state is not at all a mystery -- the Glennetons are well aware of the Aboleths that encircle underwater Gordohemnia -- any Gnoll army crossing the Gordohemnian Straight would be devastated by these masters of sea and mind. The Blue state again trounces this as nonsense, referring to the Sinress pact -- a treaty of non-aggression between Glenneton and Gordohemnia as the thing that keeps the peace.

The Blues are not very pious, though they do acknowledge Sendure as their patron diety, whether or not she was the original tribal goddess of the Gordohemnian Goblins or something the Blues adopted from the Aboleths has been lost in time and the depths of the darkest oceans.
