III. Character Creation

1. GENERAL

==A. Game Master Discussion

The first step in setting up a campaign and creating your role-playing persona is talking to your Game Master. That way you can create a character that is consistent with the setting of the game.

==B. Character Outline

First, develop a rough outline. Is your character male (like a Knight), female (like a Sailor Senshi), or a "gender-bender" (like a Sailor Starlight)? How old are they? What do they look like? How would you describe their personality? Are they aware of their powers at the beginning of the campaign? Do they know the other characters? If so, how? What is their history? Create an entire person before you work on building their stats and powers.

==C. Character Points

Your G.M. will assign each player a number of Character Points (CP) for use in building their character. CP are spent on the Character Power Level and on Neutral Attributes.

Additional CP can be attained by giving your character Defects. Character Defects cost Bonus Points (BP) that you can spend on your character. (In essence, 1 BP = -1 CP.)

After determining your Character Power Level, you will be given a number of Power Points (PP) to spend on your character's supernatural Sub-Attributes.

It's best to finish spending all yor CP on Character Attributes before getting into your supernatural Sub-Attributes. This is because certain Neutral Attirbutes (such as Heightened Senshi/ Knight Power) or Character Defects (such as Weakened Negaverse Power) can affect the number of Power Points you have.

==D. Stats

Talk to your G.M. to find out how many Stat Points (SP) you get. It may be a standardized, flat number or it may be more randomized. Once you have your total number of Stat Points (SP), you can divide these points among your character's Mind, Body, and Soul stats. (See p. 28-29 in the Sailor Moon RPG Resource Book.) Stats can range in value from 1-12

Stats can be modified by Neutral Attributes such as "Powerful Mind" or by Character Defects like "Hollow Soul."

Here are examples of stat values, with various fictional characters as reference points. (Sailor Moon characters are given in the Source Book; the rest are conjecture.)

SP MIND BODY SOUL
1
2 A 4-year-old
3 Sailor Moon Zoycite Jadeite
4 * * *
5 Cye / Shin Moori Sailor Mars
6 Sage / Seiji Date Naaza / Sekmet
7 Ryo Sanada, Tuxedo Mask Sage / Seiji Date
8 Sailor Jupiter Sailor Mars
9 Dais / Rajura Kento / Xiuli Huang Kayura
10 Sailor Mercury Spider-Man
11 Dr. Wily Captain America The Ancient / Kaosu
12 Professor X Superman Dr. Strange

*Typical stat value for an average adult human.

==E. Derived Values

When you have your character's final stats (AFTER modifications from Attributes and Defects), then your persona's Derived Values can be calculated. Here, you plug in your Mind (Mi), Body (Bo), Soul (So. Then, add any Modifiers (Mo) such as "Energy Bonus" or "Damn Helathy!" Attributes, as well as Defects like "Inept Combat" or "Awkward."
Health Points (HP) = [(Bo + So) * 5] + Mo
Energy Points (EP) = [(Mi + So) * 5] + Mo
Attack Combat Value (ACV) = [(Mi + Bo + So) / 3] + Mo
Defense Combat Value (DCV) = ACV - 2
