Goatmen, created by Kamax de-Orilg, author of The Minotaur Isles. Goatmen are a naturally chaotic race tending heavily towards cruelty and evil. Their numbers are so few that they are only heard of in remote mountainous areas. Commonly they raid caravans and take everything with them. They are known to both outright kill and capture humanoids in such raids. It is believed that the captured are sacrificed in dark rituals to a god of death. Religion in Goatmen society is a heavy influence. Goatmen relish in death and see their own deaths as a way of truly honoring their god but only after causing much death before hand. Many Goatmen become clerics of their death god. Innate to every Goatmen is the ability to converse with devils and demons. Evil outsiders are often called upon to present gifts of sacrifice or magic to in exchange for a service or item. Their affiliation with evil outsiders is the only type of other beings Goatmen mostly deal with deal with. The have been known to ally with Orcs, Gnolls, Ogres, etc to mutual benefit. But if there is even the slightest hint of weakness in their ally they will turn on them. Their are some Goatmen that deviate from this lifestyle, they do not share the same love of death. Usually they are recognized quickly and sacrificed as soon as possible. Those that escape this fate find the road harsh and hating of them because of their heritage. |
