Blake Holsey High is Josie's latest stop on her long trail of boarding schools, followed by an ultra-sized permanent record. Josie is outspoken and expressive. She is smart, gutsy, and dislikes everything phony. She isn't afraid of rule breaking and is most likely involved when there's trouble, especially because it is a habit of hers to investigate the odd occurrences of the school.
Josie hates cats and public speaking. She also is not very good at singing.
Josie and her mother do not get along well. Josie has learned to live on without her mother's presence. It is unknown who her father is. Josie's roommate is Corrine in room 21.
In the first season, Josie learns to deal with her anti-social attitude and accepts that she needs friends in order to function at her best. She also comes to terms with her mother, who she feels detached from. When Josie and Vaughn go back to 1977, Josie loses one of her chi gong balls. She shrugs it off as unimportant but she will later learn that the moment is a pivotal point in history.
In the second season, Josie continues making social strikes. She runs for class president as Madison's opponent. She even develops a crush on Vaughn but is also emotionally confused about Lucas. Josie learns that young Victor Pearson actually stole the chi gong ball from her and that it is the power source of Pearadyne Industries. Josie makes a successful attempt to steal it back, in the present, but something goes wrong and Josie loses possession of it again.
In the third season, Josie struggles with her feelings with Vaughn. As much as she wants to trust him, his father acts against her. She also has to deal with the feelings of Lucas as he puts pressure on Josie to Vaughn as a bad person. Josie continues to look for the missing chi gong ball which disappeared mysteriously from her after she stole it back from Victor (previous season). In a dreamstate, Josie sees Vaughn's mother giving Vaughn, who is a baby, a pendant and tells Vaughn that she will give it to Victor for safekeeping in the time being. Though she is not sure what the dream means, she tells Vaughn about it. The information later becomes vital for figuring out that Vaughn's mother is still alive.
Josie also has to confront her feelings for Professor Zachary. She finds herself taking advantage of his generosity, being late for class and simply no longer caring. It is after he expels her from the school that she is forced into fighting to stay at Blake Holsey High, instead of simply running away like she has from all the other schools in her past, and gains a new respect for Principal Durst and Professor Zachary's authority as a teacher. Principal Durst offers Josie an alternative curriculum to aim at challenging Josie's mind instead of merely teaching her just enough.
Josie ends up accidentally going back in time through the wormhole to 1879 and learns more about the school's origins which raise new questions. Going back to 1977 to find Vaughn, after he did not make it back to the present when he, Corrine, Marshall, and Lucas follow Josie into 1879 to rescue her, Josie and Vaughn learn that Sarah Lynch knew all along that Josie would bring a floating chi gong ball to the past and that Vic would steal it. Determined to end the mysterious events once and for all, Josie goes to Pearadyne Industries in 1987 and steals the floating chi gong ball from Victor before the explosion can occur. When she gets back to the present, she discovers that Blake Holsey High has been condemned. The Janitor and Josie2 tell Josie that Victor is the good guy and was meant to have the ball from the start. All is lost.
In the mirror!universe, Josie is best described as an airhead. She is quite fond of pink and has an upbeat attitude.
