Professor Zachary, known as Professor Z, is a science teacher and head of the Science Club. He was lucky to have received a scholarship from Pearadyne Labs to continue to college, which was at Penn State University. He also was employed by Pearadyne Labs for a summer, just interning (answering phones, filing papers, etc). Like Josie, he is interested (and often fascinated) in the odd occurrences and seeks to find the cause of them. His last job was at an all girl school.
Science was not always his passion. Before he fell in love with it, Professor Zachary loved playing the guitar. He has a fear of clowns due to getting lost at the circus when he was 5 years old. He does not like giving pop quizzes.
Professor Zachary's attitude and approach to teaching is described as unorthodox. He is engaging and ready to provide intellectual stimulation instead of droning on about the chore of learning. This often brings him into conflict with Principal Durst and Victor Pearson.
Trivia: Professor Zachary's first name, Noel, is never heard in the series. It is known that this is his name because it is what appears on his post-graduate certificate for a doctorate in the Philosophy in the Discipline of Physics, in his office. - Reported by Jeff Douglas.
In season one, Professor Zachary is the new Science teacher, replacing a Professor Middleton. He encourages the students to grow and challenges them to solve problems in their lives as well as in their academics. He often comes into conflict with Principal Durst because of his teaching methods. As time goes on, we learn that he knows things about Pearadyne Industries.
In season two, Professor Zachary continues to liven up learning. He serves as the connection between the Science Club and Principal Durst in the event that they do need Principal Durst's help to save the school.
In season three, Professor Zachary promotes rational theories based on observation, the scientific method.
In the mirror!universe, Professor Z is a drama teacher. He is still as optimistic and engaging teacher but with a love for poetry and the arts. He seems to enjoy de-stressing situations by playing word games.
