Aerial Roots on Branches

When root grows to bottom of tube, splice another moss tube
onto its end. Cut away top of moss tube, 30cm above the
highest white on the root. Let the root hang, so it is
pulled straight by its own weight. The tube should extend
30cm beyond ground level, so it is sturdy when planted.
Water via turkey baster.

After planting, the root is delicate, and needs a shroud
to protect it. Put a bamboo pole adjacent to it, make a
cylinder of Handi-Wrap around it, and fill it with moss.
Let it grow for several months. WARNING: The tube must go
all the way up to the branch, since the root swells in the
moist moss. If the cylinder just goes half way, then only
the bottom half swells; very ugly!

Then, remove the cylinder, and it is done! With time, the
branch will have larger diameter on the side distant from
the trunk, unlike normal tapering branches.
