Moss Tubes For Air Layering

Get a roll of Cottrell, Ltd. 2" (5cm) sterilization tubing
from a medical supply store. A 100' (30m) roll costs $10.

Cut off 30cm, or longer section. Crumple it up, and pry it
open. Run a ramrod (bamboo pole) down it to open it up.

Cut two holes in the tube, 1cm from the bottom, and tie it
shut with a wire. The moss stays in, but water drains out.

Stuff shredded spaghnum moss into the tube. Ramrod it down,
so it can not settle and create air pockets.

Stick a faucet in the top, hold it tight, and shoot water in
under pressure. Ramrod it again, and add more moss.

To extend tube, cut off bottom 1cm of tubing. Stick it into
new tube: top 5cm empty, 3cm cut. Wrap with 5cm mailing tape.
