My great-grandmother was Panayiota Tsirigoti (born approx. 1850). Her family was originally from Kythera but when she married my great-grandfather (Yiannis Bolovitsiotis) she was living in Lakonia. I would like to visit Kythera one day to do some research.

My wife's mother was the daughter of Ioannis Emmanuel Trifyllis. My grandmother was Eleni Kontoleon, married George Garyfalakis and lived in Smyrna till 1922. Her brother was Stavros Kontoleon. Great website and thanks for the beatiful Kytherian music.

Just wondering if there are any Cominos on this island. My grandfather was named Arthur Cominos, and was from Kythera (I just found this out). He left Kythera in the 1920s, and married my grandmother, a Bavarian named Elsie. They were later divorced and he apparently (I only got pieces of this growing up) returned to his island, presumably Kythera, and then later returned to Northern CA, Salinas area, where family owned the Hotel Cominos. I knew very little of the history due to very nasty divorce between Arthur and Elsie. After the divorce he returned to Greece for a while. I believe he later lived in Northern California after he remarried a Greek woman from Kythera and returned to his family near Salinas. If you know anything, I would like to know more. The story I heard is that another part of the same family from Kythera also emigated, but to Australia. I know nothing of the Australian family and very little of my American Greek roots. My mother's maiden name was Elizabeth Cominos. They lived together in Alhambra, California, in the 1930s.
Any help would be appreciated, as I would like to know more.
