Cragon - Federation II

Financier

My promotion to Financier was without fanfare as the requirement was simply to put in time as a Manufacturer and promote whenever I felt like selling off all my factories and depots. My plan was to wait until I had amassed over 100Migs in my company which took about a month.

Bank balance at the time of promotion was around 114Migs.

Investments in other companies were made but for something to do I still dabbled in futures.

During my time as Financier I saw (Cube) moved from Sol to the Cubit system in preparation for promotion to Founder.

Meet Cragonjr who was created as a droid to help haul commods in and out of Cube. Junior is kept very busy hauling deficits in and surplus out from Cube every day.

Founder

To be the Planet Owner of Cube is the pinnacle of my career. At first I designed Cube to be an asteroid in Sol. A mining colony that was used mainly by Armstrong & Cuthbert as a place to drop off and pick up packages. My involvement in the asteroid after the design stage was minimal until the big move to the Cubit System.

Now I am involved in planet builds and at the time of writing this I have done 3 as two are heliographs and one is a defence build. All in an effort to move my little hunk of rock from Agricultural to the next level. Of course I am still trying to find out how many builds will be required do to that and at 10 Million groats per build I can tell you its not cheap.

Cube as depicted by a rather poor artist who needs a lot of lessons on how to draw but you can get the general idea of what Cube might look like from space. The red dome is the side where shuttles would land and take off and travel to and from the other five domes are all from underground at the present time.

After building a school, progress on Cube was halted due to a condition known as "lethargy" was encountered. Yours truly was having difficulty finding the energy needed to continue the work of planet building and a break seemed to be called for in order to re-charge the ole batteries which of course have not been used in a long time in the asteroid belt.

I was going to try my hand at an outside activity started by Dupree called Fed Fantasy Football but my condition prevented me from continuing. Further progress on Cube is in question at this point and I am not certain whether my chronicles will continue. Only time will tell.

After a short rest from Fed a second school was completed. My goal is to complete a total of 4 schools and build a university. Hopefully by that time we will be informed what the promotion requirements from Founder will be and plan accordingly.

News just in. Promotion requirements announced and it will take 30 builds to reach the Engineer level so I have my work cut out for me.

Since I only have 6 builds completed it is reasonable to expect that it will be some time before the Engineer level will be reached.

A third school has been built on Cube and funds are being earned towards building a fourth. Most recent news to date includes the linking of this website from the Fed2 site and in celebration of this event I arranged for the annoying ad on the right of these pages to be removed.

Two new trading pages have been added for 12 planets aligned with the Fed Labor Union Board (FLUB). These 12 are Acuminata, Asylum, Boondock, Cube, Dilconia, Ganymede, Halloween, Lyon, Maroon, New Gough, New Siberia and Renglor so be sure to check them out.

Trading on the planets mentioned above has become a passion. With approxiamately 67 commodities in six distinct categories to dabble in it is driving me to construct a new and improved Trading Page on this site. Hours are being spent in the various exchanges watching the prices flash by on the screen and taking notes for my project. Can this be called an obsession?

School number 4 has just been constructed and the next one will be an Agricollege. This will mean a boost of 8% to all my agricultural commodities and I can hardly wait to check my exchange when that happens.

Amidst pomp and ceremony an Agricollege was opened and work has been started to finance a series of canals.

"The original canals on Earth were dug out by hand by workmen known as navvies, but in this case massive earth moving machines are brought in from off planet to do the digging. The process is messy and seems to go on forever, but at last the machines leave and the water flows from the newly created reservoirs into the canal system, giving a much needed boost to your economy". With that announcement Cube celebrates the opening of its first canal.

In the vastness of space one can easily imagine the Cubit System and the planet Cube located on the southern edge of a vast asteroid belt. For those in Fed II Cube can be visited easily if you have reached the Captain level or higher.

Work has begun on listing my exchange production points. Progress can be seen on the table below.

More and more of my time is spent in exchanges on a variety of planets. If I am not there to trade then just watching and recording the ticker tape for my Trading Pages. Thinking of trade, I am making every effort to do so out-of-sol and a recent event on Cube involved Lasers going from a surplus to a deficit. In pulling up my "trading pages", Grandstand in the Racetrack system became my location of choice to buy 7 bays. The following tables represent Cube's exchange at the Agricultural level.

Founders are starting to promote at a furious pace. At last count there were 9 going up the ladder and leaving the rest of us behind to complete the required builds.

Thinking of builds, a check of my latest progress reveals that 4 canals have now been built and as I write this, work on my last one has started. Overall I find it slow going to raise the groats needed to complete a build, however, push on I must.

Latest build info is that Cube now has its 5th and final canal for a total of 14 builds. A long, long way to go but almost half way to being a Resource planet.

"The new clinic is opened to general acclaim, and the population are suitably grateful for your attention to their needs. The snide comments from a few hardened cynics who point out the clinic has been built using the people's hard earned tax groats are mostly ignored."

Made a decision today to go to 35 builds before promoting to Engineer. Still a long way to go before I even reach 30 but at least I will be putting off the disaffection problem for a little bit.

Today I took a break from hauling and went bungee jumping off the roof of the Galactic Administration Building. I can report that I survived the experience.

Cube opened its first hospital with the following fanfare,"In a surprisingly short space of time a brand new hospital rises from the foundations. Soon it is fitted out with the latest medical equipment and trained staff are recruitted from the planet's clinics. Finally the hospital opens and very soon you benefit from its work as the population becomes more healthy and increases in size".

"After carefully considering the advice of your investment specialists you make a large capital sum available to fund the future payments of your family allowance scheme." With that announcement Cube completed it's 26th build.

Build #30 has been completed and some thought to promotion has been given. I am in the "saving groats phase" and have set a goal of 50 Mig, which, when reached will be the start of phase 2.

At phase 2 my plan is to do 1 family build then save 10 Mig more and do another family build. This will continue until build #35 at which time I will advise my fac owners of my intention to promote.

At this time I am half way through phase 1 and I have saved 25 million groats with 25 million to go. I am getting anxious to finish my goals which will culminate in selling off my stock in preparation of promoting to Engineer.

Report: Unemployment has hit an all time high on Cube and has changed my plans for builds. A slowdown in progress has been called for even though I am now at 30 million groats in my savings program. Cube is not affected by disaffection yet but if I rush to the Resource level I soon would be with only 2 factories keeping my wtgs employed. Cube needs more factories.

Phase 2 has been started and only 4 more family builds are planned before promotion. My stock has been estimated at 4 million groats and I can smell the Engineer level getting very close now.

The following is a snapshop of Cube's builds at the Agricultural level just for the record: Heliograph: 5 routes, Planetary Defence Bases: 5, Schools: 4, General: 0, Agri College Feeders: 4, Mining School feeders: 0, Unallocated: 0, Agricultural College: Built Canal Systems: 5, Clinics: 4, General: 0, Teaching: 2, Unallocated: 2, Hospitals: 1, Family Allowances: 7, Total=32 builds.

When Family Allowances reach 10, steps will be taken to sell off all stock in preparation of the big promotion.

Check back later as I may have more information about the progress of Cube. In the meantime Cragon can always be reached by e-mail at Cragon@aemail4u.com. Suggestions on how to improve this site without going too high tech are always welcome.
