Since the initial surge of publicity for RentakAsia, curious souls have never stopped asking us what the two-day event, slated for Oct. 20 and 21 at Bukit Jalil's National Stadium Complex, is really about.

Well, we have tried describing it as a "feast for the senses" that involves a whole lotta of music, food and fun, but many have found that characterization too vague and unsatisfactory.

We could say it's a festival of world music, but that would give the wrong picture as our artist line-up is not confined to just folk or world-fusion categories. In fact, most of the headliners for RentakAsia are actually from the rock arena -- some of the world's most celebrated and influential artists -- though we have also invited masters of Latin music, jazz and African and Asian folk and pop.

And there might even be a boy band or two... and maybe also someone in the mould of Celine Dion for lovers of pretty pop!

So, now that you have a better idea (we hope!) of what to expect at RentakAsia, keep yourself free on Oct. 20 and 21.

Supported by Malaysia Airports Berhad and the Pan Pacific Hotel, KLIA, and held in conjunction with the Petronas Malaysian Grand Prix (you're entitled to an RM30 rebate if you have an FI ticket) in Sepang on Oct. 20-22, RentakAsia will feature hours of non-stop music by artists representing a whole gamut of genres from various corners of the world. It will also give you a chance to sample Asian cuisine in all its varied glory.

The whole games village at the Bukit Jalil National Sports Complex will be throbbing and teeming with sounds, scents (various kinds of food will be available at a slew of stalls) and sights (all types of video and visual artworks will be on exhibit). The event is expected to be broadcast live on TV and the Internet.
