9.3.02 - Oh my God, they killed Doshin! You Bastards!

In suicidally depressing news, according to this interview, innovative and plain ol' odd N64DD turned Gamecube game Doshin the Giant won't be coming to the US. If ever there was a time for emoticons, this is it:

;_____;

No reason has been given, but I'm pretty sure it's because Nintendo of America sucks (the game will be released in Europe in March). Never give up hope, tho! It's not impossible that a 3rd party publisher would want to pick the game up for domestic release, so everyone cross your collective fingers, toes and eyebrows!

In more disappointment from Nintendo, the European release of Animal Crossing is, apparently, still in question. A Nintendo of Europe representative says, "I'm not saying we're not releasing it. I'm saying we currently have no plans. When you look at the schedule we have for the coming months, it's quite crowded. We already have a broad range of games, so we're happy with the current line-up. There is no need for this game at the moment. We'd like to see how it goes in America first, because it's a huge step from the Japanese market to the Western Hemisphere. We'd like to see whether or not it's well received in America: then we can consider it for launch in Europe."

All of which implies that the European release of the game is dependant on US sales.

But, before you begin to feel sorry for US and European gamers, consider this: A recently passed law has banned gaming in Greece. The law was originally intended to stop online gambling, but due to vague wording it makes all forms of electronic gaming illegal. Those caught playing games can face up to 3 months in prison and fines of up to 5,000 euro, while repeat offenders can get up to a year in jail and fines of 50,000 to 75,000 euro. Kinda puts those times your parents grounded you and took your NES away into perspective, eh?

Wild Arms 3 has been pushed back until January 2003, which is a far cry from it's original October release date. No news yet as to why the delay is taking place.

Finally, some good news. It appears that Strider 3 maybe appearing on the X-Box sometime in the distant future. In a spong.com interview with Capcom producers Koji Nakajima and Yoshihiro Sudo, Nakajima was quoted as saying: "We would like to see Strider made in 3D. Sudo-san would like to see the game on Xbox. It has not gone into development yet, but it might at some point in the future."
