REY ADEL'S POETRY
IN THE EYES OF A CITY POET

IV
A red-lipped virago waiting
by an unlit vomit-reeking park.
A singer intoning "No More Rhymes"
to a solitary poem writer.

A blind granny sitting, waiting,
begging alone in the dark.
An urchin adoring a dress
on a glass pane by a ladder.

V
A church devoid of glittering lights
when cold, unchanging evening falls.
A homeless family asleep by the apse
until the early morning calls.

A music bar showing the same videoke
for nearly a thousand times.
An eatery catering to beer drinkers
within the church chimes.

VI
A closed bank, the new haven
of an optical clinic.
A beggar with a rhythmic speech
of an evangelical cynic.

A boisterous queue expecting angrily
a lonely jeep ride for home.
A plump man scratching sensibly
his shiny, hairless dome.
