REY ADEL'S POETRY
IN THE EYES OF A CITY POET

VII
A karaoke bar overcrowded
by some solitary imbibers.
Instrumentals on the chilly air
the music hummed by non-singers.

An amorous pair sweet talking
in whispers inside a sedan.
People of races gathering like kids
in a four-day fiesta-fun caravan.

VIII
A coconut palace offering
a bowl of soup and porridge.
A coach driving a candlelit
dead-tired horse on a carriage.

The city hall, aloof and alone
in an uninteresting slope.
A port of entry near a traffic
overlooking a dirty cove.

IX
A chorus of old overweight women
singing Agnus Dei at dawn.
A team of gray-bearded men
ever-pushing a humble pawn.

A balloon vendor teaching a son
the secrets of his trade.
A wife and the other woman
in an early morn tirade.
