Entry 2: March 14, 2001: Hello again. I know I said this was supposed to be a weekly thing but don't hold your breath on that. I just worked my ass sick at work all week trying to fix up my store for my anal retentive District Manager. So updates might not come weekly but they will come.
Anyway, we'll start with wrestling this time around. So the King is gone from the WWF. In a way, that's a shame because he and Jim Ross were the best announce team ever in my opinion. The good news however, is that the WWF has picked up Paul Heyman, the owner of ECW. This could be good because he was the booker for ECW also and with his knowledge of wrestling, he could help to give the WWF some refreshing storylines. Already in the last week that he's been with the WWF, the shows have turned for the better.
March Madness is starting tomorrow and as usual I'm voting for Kentucky. They really improved themselves in the past couple weeks. They had a horrible record at the start of the season but were able to overcome it and ended up winning the SEC tourney. Now they are a #2 seed in the same division as the the #1 seed Duke. If things go right, Duke and Kentucky can have a rematch in the same game in the same town that happened about 9-10 years ago. And this time, Duke doesn't have Laettner to make that damn lucky shot. Bastard.
XFL. Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha. What a joke they turned out to be. They are bombing so bad that they are now putting cameras in the cheerleaders' locker rooms to gain some ratings. They even mentioned in the commercials that they are doing this in a desperate attempt to get ratings. How pathetic. Let it fold. Then maybe Vince can go concentrate on what really matters. The WWF.
Hey does anyone care that Baseball season starts in a few weeks? Rumors are that they might go on strike again. If that happens, consider it the final nail in the coffin for that sport. Dumbasses.
Go Sixers. The acquistion of Dikembe Mutumbo seems to have really helped the Sixers, at least for the first couple weeks. To tell you the truth, I haven't paid attention much in the last 2 weeks. But anyway, he could be the center that we've been looking for since we acquired Manute Bol. Why are the Sixers always looking for a center? Why is that always their week point? Well, if any season was going to be the season to win it all, this is it.
Speaking of basketball, Michael Jordan and Charles Barkley are both thinking of coming back from retirement. Do they really need the money that bad? They probably just don't like being out of the spotlight anymore and have to feed their big egos some more. Although, it would be cool to see Jordan play again. That would definitely bring some much needed publicity to the NBA.
So how come now that Bush is in office, everybody is saying we are now at the beginning of a recession? Wasn't everything suppose to be fine and dandy when Clinton was running things? Didn't they say that the economy was prospering and everything was going ok? Is this just a ploy to make Bush look incompetent? I guess he wants to be just like his father; having bombed Iraq already, he's halfway there.
But seriously who cares about politics? There is no such thing as politics. It's all persuasion, manipulation and intimidation. It's one or two people controlling a group, telling them what to do and what to say. All we are voting for is the puppets for these few peoples to pull the strings on. Do we really have a say? Or is it all just an illusion? This is my conspiracy theory for the week. Oh, and don't ask me to back up any of my conclusions because I'm just making this up as I go along and I'm fighting a cold right now. Thanks.
So Napster is dead now. Hmm, I'm still finding everything I want. The only songs I couldn't find were songs by Metallica and I hate Metallica so I could care less about that. I tested it out by putting Metallica songs in the search engine and none came up. However, I did see some horribly misspelled versions of their songs. I haven't had much trouble finding other stuff. The judge gave them 72 hours to get rid of copyrighted stuff and that 72 hours have passed a few days ago. IMO, I think it would be almost impossible to get rid of all the copyrighted material. That would take more than 72 hours to accomplish and each record company would have to prove that the songs are copyrighted by them. That could take some considerable amount of time. Oh well, I still have Gnutella and Napigator if Napster goes down. Long live file sharing.
So are DVDs the best thing ever created or what? I have gone on a DVD buying craze. I can't get enough of them. Of course, I can't just buy DVDs that are popular. No, I have the buy the most obscure or underground stuff available. I bought all the Gundam Wing DVDs, every Chow-Yun Fat/John Woo collaborations DVDs, and the most unknown John Hughes movie of all time, Career Opportunities. Of course, that last one was mainly because Jennifer Connelly is in it and, well, just look at the cover of the movie and that should explain all.
Sega has decided to end production on it's Sega Dreamcast already. Dammit. I knew that after the disaster that was known as Sega Saturn, I shouldn't have trusted Sega again. At least, I only paid $130 for my Dreamcast and there were a few good games for the system. Sega is now going to produce all of their games for their ex-rivals Playstation and the upcoming X-Box. At least now, PS2 will have double the games coming out and some of them might actually be good considering that the first wave of games have been disappointing. I'm still considering whether I should spend my money on the Microsoft X-Box or not when it comes out. We'll have to wait and see.
Well I babbled enough for today. Until next time....signing off.
