Achill Island is the largest island off the West Coast of Ireland, in County Mayo. Access is available to vehicles over a bridge which can be "swung" sideways to allow shipping through. Achill is 12 miles wide by 15 miles long, and the population is approximately 2,500. |

Achill Island is famous for its scenery, from long sandy beaches to the Highest Sea Cliffs in Europe, and Blanket Bog and Sandybanks in between. The rugged outdoors is a haven for water sports enthusiasts, artists and walkers and climbers.
