27. Open Flags |
Rider may run figure
8 or straight line down one side and back on the other. Disqualification
is knocking over the flag, or barrel dropping flag, hitting
the horse with flagstaff or going off course, the flag must
stay in the barrel. |

28. Open Down and
Back |
Horses run down
and around the end barrel in either direction and back across
the finish line. There is a 5 second penalty for knocking
over the barrel but no disqualification. |

31. Open Pole Bending |
Open to all riders.
Six poles 6ft high and 21 ft. apart with the first pole 21ft
from the starting line. The rider races down one side of poles
and turns around it and weaves back and forth to the first
pole which must be ridden around without crossing the starting
gate. He then weaves back to the last pole rides around it
and down the opposite side and out through the gate. Horses
must enter and return through markers or he will be disqualified.
Knocking over a pole is a 5-second penalty. Crossing the Start/Finish
line before completion of the pattern results in disqualification

32. Open Stake Race |
Riders are allowed
a running start, timing will start as horses nose reaches
the center line which is the starting line. Markers or barrels
are set 40ft. either side of enter line and a figure eight
is run around, either right or left is acceptable. Going off
the pattern is a disqualification. Knocking down the marker
is a 5-second penalty. |

33. Open Keyhole |
A running start
is allowed to the start gate. Rider races to the keyhole,
turns within the circle and returns through the opening to
the finish line. All boundary key hole lines are to be marked
(lime or sawdust). No upright markers are allowed to form
the keyhole. Stepping on or out of the line is a disqualification. |

34. Texas Speed
and Action |
A running start
is allowed to start gate. Rider races through central square
to center barrel in either direction and races back to the
square, turns and goes back to center barrel and around the
barrel in the opposite direction and races back through the
square to the finish line. Disqualification for knocking over
a barrel and stepping outside the square, or knocking over
any corner marker. Barrels are 4ft. apart and the square is
a 20ft. square. |

A running start
is allowed. The horse passes through the gate and makes a
right turn around the right barrel, a left turn around the
opposite barrel, rides to far end and makes a left turn around
the head barrel and races back between the first two barrels
to the finishing line. It can be done in either direction.
Knocking over a barrel is a 5-second penalty. |
