Changeling
Characters in the best of stories, even faerie tales, do not remain static. They grow, they learn, they change. Similarly, characters in our tale grow from their humble beginnings, becoming great heroes and villains. They do this through learning from their experiences. We represent these with 'experience points'.
In the US and Canada, the maximum number of experience points that a Player Character can receive in one month is based upon its current amount of earned Experience Points. Earned Experience refers to those points gained through the course of play, not from Membership Class or Ordeals. At the beginning of the month, check the amount of earned Experience Points the character has, and compare it to the chart below to see how many points the character can earn in that month. The first month in which this calculation should be done is January 2001. Prior to January 2001, all characters are subject to a 4xp per month cap.

In general principle, there will be two sessions per month, with available Experience for playing divided in the following ways:
1 - playing one session
1 - exceptional costume one session
1 - playing a second session
1 - exceptional costume the second session
1 - exceptional roleplaying above and beyond duty
1 - written prose or poetry summary of one or more sessions submitted for the website
* These total up to 6 per month, which is that allowed by the lowest category of Experience earned.
Spending Experience.
After experience has been awarded, it may be spent to purchase new Abilities, Traits, Arts and Realms, improving upon the character and giving the player a sense of satisfaction as he watches his character grow. The following lists the costs of improving the various aspects of the character:
New Attribute Trait - One experience point per trait.
New Ability - One point per Ability Trait.
New Art - Three for basic Arts, six for Intermediate, and nine for Advanced. Remember that you need Regional Storyteller or National Storyteller Approval for some Arts, such as Naming, Chronos, Sovereign taken by non-sidhe.
New Realm - Two per Realm.
New Glamour - Three experience per Trait.
New Willpower - Three experience per Trait.
New Banality - Two per Trait. Go on, take it. You know you want it. It'll get you sooner or later anyway...
Buy off a Negative Trait - Two experience per Trait.
New Background - One experience per Background Trait, with Storyteller approval as appropriate (Chapter, Domain, Regional).
New Merit or Flaw - Double the cost of the Merit of Flaw, with Storyteller approval as appropriate. This should not happen instantaneously. It is recommended that Storytellers find a way to integrate the addition of a Merit or the removal of a Flaw into a character's ongiong plotline.
Remember, as always, that some Arts, Merits, Flaws, and Backgrounds require approval from a variety of Storytellers before they can be acquired, removed, or changed, whether at character creation or afterwards.
