Description; Ah, Batman meets 'The Big O'!

The latest figure from 'The Batman' line is a homage to manga robots.   The figure is the usual 6" tall.  However, the figure is armored in very chunky armor;  massive chest and arms and huge cannons on his shoulders.  The entire piece is dark and light gray and red.

Batbot also comes with a shield, removable jetpack with folding wings, and a large cannon/howitzer/club.

Ok, ok, I gave in!  I couldn't resist!  I know I keep harping how these silly, messed-up kiddified alternate versions of Batman are Bantha Fodder!  Seriously, Batman wearing battle armor with a net-launcher on it?  Can you imagine the reaction Superman would have?  'Um... Batman... you ok?'  'Leave me alone!  This is a great way to capture criminals!'  'Ah... the old 'superstitious and cowardly lot' thing didn't fly, did it?'  'Oh, go fly!'  Well, Mattel is creating a line of alternative Batman suits.  There's something with Roller-Blades, something with giant pile-driver arm things, and another with a jetpack... and BatBot!  What can I say, I'm a fan-boy with a severe weakness for powered armor!  So, how is this thing?  Actually... not bad.  Hehehehehehehe.

The meat and potatoes on this thing are pretty solid.  The figure looks like something out of 'Mazinger-Z'; over-sized arms and chest, giant jetpack with wings, even giant hand-weapons.  It doesn't look bad.  The sculpting captures panel lines pretty well, and the articulation is still good.  The knees, hips, waist, the usual move well on Batbot.  Unfortunately, there are no elbows, but considering the figure has giant manga-sized arms, that's not surprising.  To make up for it, the wrists do rotate, so you can move them around for alternative poses while Batman holds weapons.   The paint, though... for some reason, red is used a LOT on this figure.  The predominate color are two shades of gray, but the red used is a bright, fire-engine red and it's used for more then just high-lights on Batbot.  Go figure.

The perks are nice.  If you're gonna go charging into battle with manga-armor, you should be well equipped with stuff.  The figure comes with a shield, a giant honking 'club' with a firing missile in the tip, and the wings on the figure are removable so you could use them like a drone.

Homer factor?  Ok, ok, you're wondering where this came from.  Frankly, it's pretty easy to get caught up in the entire toys-bordering-as-art thing.  Often the newest breed of figure, like the 'LOTR' pieces from ToyBiz are so well constructed and so gorgeous, I become an elitist... ok, let's be frank, I can be a toy snob.  This is BAD... because above all else, a toy should be FUN.  Ok, so the entire schtick with the multi-mission suits is silly.  Hey, IT'S A TOY, it's supposed to be silly!  And in this case, we're talking MAJOR silly; Batman encased in a giant suit of armor designed to gangsta-slap the bad-guys... but ya know what, it's still a fun thing to have... especially if you have Alien figures!

So how is the figure?  No, this ISN'T your classic case of high-end figures with super-detailed sculpting, 20 bagillion joints, blah, blah, blah.  But it IS a fun piece to have around and a nice homage to manga fans.   So just get it.  It's a toy, it'll be fun.  Hehehehehe!
