Description; a table-top version of the Enterprise A!

Art Asylum's version of the Enterprise A is approximately 16" long and is a beautifully done 'model' of the Enterprise used by Kirk and Crew in 'ST III' through 'ST VI'.  The vehicle has a ton of details and is beautifully painted.

The figure comes will a stand and has a variety of sound and lighting effects.

Meat and Potatoes; 5.0
Perks; 5.0
Homer Factor; 5.0
Ah, the Enterprise A.  Yeah the Excelsior looks sleeker, Romulan Warbirds and Klingon battlecruisers have more fire-power, and the Enterprise E is just magnificent!  Anyway, there's something about the classic Enterprise and it's twin the Enterprise A that makes you go 'Aaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh'.  It's like seeing a classic Corvette; yeah, the newer stuff looks good, but those classic lines and curves never get old.

Art Asylum has taken full advantage of the 'Trek' license and created an awesome line of figures and vehicles.  However, I waited for THE vehicle... the original Enterprise.  Ok, ok, so technically this is the A, which replaced the original 1701 that was blown to smithereens over the Genesis Planet.  Just the same, this vehicle was based on THE Enterprise, the one that freaked out sci-fi fans in 1969.  The one that survived countless battles in the Alpha Quadrant and became the ultimate Boogey-Man to the Klingons, Romulans, and everyone else stupid enough to take on one James T. Kirk.  So what does Art Asylum do to pay homage to a sci-fi icon?  Kick butt, that's what they do.

The meat and potatoes on this vehicle are amazing.  Playmate vehicles were ok, but the level of detail on this vehicle is incredible; panel lines, vents, even the location of the after phasers. (Yes, there ARE aft phasers.  Refer to 'Mr. Scott's Guide to the Enterprise.'  So there.)  It's all there.  This piece doesn't look like a toy, this is a high-end model... and you don't have to mess with glue.  Wooohoo!

Perks aren't bad.  This has the obligatory sound and lights for about seven effects.  They're all well reproduced, and the lighting of the engines, navigational deflector, and impulse engines is a nice touch.  One problem is there's only one button, so you have to cycle through all of the sound effects.  Personally, I liked way Playmates put a different button for each effect.  Oh well.  The other perk is a very well sculpted stand that has a ball-joint built into it so you can change the position of the Enterprise.  This works RELATIVELY well... just be careful how much you lean the Enterprise or it'll topple.

Homer factor?  Ooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh... I've been waiting for a version of the Enterprise for a long time, and had to content myself with a 1" version from Micro Machines... not any  more.  Bwahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!

All in all, this is a great vehicle to have.  The detailed construction and painting plus the gorgeous stand all give this vehicle the look of a high-end model to put on your shelf.  And just think... the Enterprise E is out this fall!!!!!!!!!!!!!
