Description; The clow Prince of Crime brought back to maniacal life. The figure is approximately 5" tall and is a totally new look for the Joker. The figure is decked-out in a jacket designed to look like a straightjacket with purple trim. The Joker wears black pants and bare feet. The pieces head is sculpted with a demonic, angular chin and nose and a giant mane of green hair that looks like dreadlocks. The piece comes with a huge green sledgehammer with a pink handle that fires a missle. Ah, only the joker could do that. Hehehehehehehehhehehehehe! |

Ah, if you're doing Batman, you GOTTA do The Joker! So what do you do, though, to this classic villain? He's been done soooooooo many times. Over the years, everyone has stuck with the traditional look of the Joker; zoot-suit, tall and lanky, e.g. the Brian Bolland influenced figure from Mattel. Personally, this is my favorite. Call me old school. This is the umpteenth reincarnation of the Clown Prince of Crime, so what do you do? Ah, you go into a TOTALLY new direction with the look... and create another demon from hell that must face Gotham's Guardian Angel. The meat and potatoes are very different. Like the Batman piece, the articulation is a VERY pleasant surprise; hips, elbows, knees, the works. Ah, but who cares... what does this thing look like? Frankly, this is a SCARY looking Joker. The figure's costume has totally transformed into a straightjacket that's trimmed in purple with black pants, and bare feet. Oh, but the face... the character's usual angular features have been exaggerated even more to give The Joker the look of a gargoyle, and rather then the simple haircut, The Joker is sporting some cool looking green dreadlocks. And on top of that, the entire piece is sculpted so he's hunched over like Gollum. The over-all effect is a great re-interpretation of the Joker; lots of new looks but keeping a lot of the familiar elements, all creating one scary looking dude. Perks? Not spectacular, unfortunately, but ok. The Joker comes with a giant mallet that has a little missile launcher buried in the head. Perfect for sparring with Batman if he's got that giant bat-scimitar with him. Homer factor? Oh please, waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay high. The Joker and Batman have always been a classic example of the ying and yang of hero/villain in comics. Now, not only are they different in terms of methodology, but also in physical appearance. Batman is the pinnacle of physical perfection, while the Joker transformed into a mental AND physical freak. In the end, all of this leads to a great figure for 'The Batman' series. And just think... this is only the FIRST villain... oh the possibilities... Bwahahahahahahahhaa! |
