Description; Old Shellhead re-designed to take out the son of Odin! Thorbuster Iron Man is 7" of bulky, Asgardian smacking figure! He's based on the Thorbuster armor from the pages of the IM comic. The figure follows the basic red and gold color scheme. However instead of the usual chest beam IM has a funky looking symbol, in gold, on his chest. There's also a u-shaped crest on the brow of the faceplate. The figure comes with a limb from the Onslaught build-a-figure. The facemask is also removable. |

Ah, Iron Man! Best part of this character is you can ALWAYS make more figures! Even during his first years of life in 'Tales to Astonish' Shellhead went through a LOT of changes in the armor, which makes a lot of sense. The armor wasn't just a costume, it was upgraded as better technology came along... or as the fan-boys of the time found cooler stuff to give Iron Man! As many 'wonderful toys' as Batman has Iron Man has him beat with the armors. From space to under-sea, from the Silver Centurion to the classic Crimson and Gold there are a bazillion options for armor... which means a LOT of action figures!!!!! Woohoo! ToyBiz has milked these for all their worth since day one of Marvel Legends and nothing has been a disappointment. So just as ToyBiz is about to end the ML license, they come up with another specialty armor, the Thor Buster! So it is worth cramming your shelf with ANOTHER Iron Man piece? Oh hell yeah! And let the Son of Odin beware! Meat and potatoes are stellar as always. One nice feature of the figure is it's BIG, as in compared to the Silver Centurion this is a head taller and a LOT bulkier. This makes sense since this is supposed to take out Thor. It would have been tempting to just make a slightly beefier version of Iron Man, but I'm so glad ToyBiz didn't go cheap on this one. And like the other Iron Man figures it has great articulation for lots of posing possibilities for your fight with Thor… er, I mean, for your DISPLAY with Thor. Perks... well, that's the problem. As usual, the helmet is removable. Not necessary but a nice touch. The build-a-figures are annoying. No, I DON'T WANT MODOK! At least most of the other ones were cool, but having a flying head on a chair just ain't cool! And besides, I'm rather annoyed at getting a CHUNK of something. For what I've spent I rather have something specifically for the figure. From a marketing standpoint this is a good idea. For a collector like me who's looking for specific characters, I don't want to waste the money. Homer factor? Hey, it's Iron Man! He could probably wear a transforming umbrella and I would buy one! Last call? This is a good figure to get. If you're an Iron Man fan it's a must-have. Unfortunately the constant build-a-figures are getting rather tiresome. It'll be interesting to see how Hasbro handles things. No pressure guys, none at all...ally stand out. Homer factor? Oh come on, can't you tell I'm past drooling here! In the end this is an outstanding figure to have. The combination of good sculpting and articulation and awesome accessories make this a must-have for your toy collection. Unfortunately I do have a slight problem... now I gotta get some bad guys to balance things. Hmmmmmmmmmm... |
