About Us Forum Standard Thinking Reviews Reader Reviews Hype List Other Unique Thinking Daily Debate Affilatess Game of the Month Other Thinking IGN Gamespot Tendo Box Planet Gamecube ![]() SSega has always been the king of original games, and Chu Chu Rocket is no slouch. The graphics and sound may only be average, but the replay value and different modes will keep you in the game. The many modes include: 4 player battle 1p~4p Team Battle 1p~4p Stage Challenge 1p Puzzle mode 1p Create Stage Create Character Exchange Data & Option mode Help mode Gameplay is very fast paced, and you try to get the highest score among your opponents. To collect points, you must lead mice into your base with arrows. Once mice go on an arrow block, they must go in the direction the arrows is point. You can only place 3 arrows at a time, so choose wisely. Once you place a fourth arrow, the first arrow you placed will disappear and so on. There are 3 different types of mice, that will each do something different. Regular Mice are just normal mice that will add one point to your score. The rare 50 point mice will add 50 whalloping points to your score. And lastly, the Random Mice will give you an added effect, such as making you switch places, replace arrows, or even make an abundant amount of mice come out. However, there are also cats in the game that will not only eat mice, but will make you lose your hard earned points. As cats eat mice, they will get larger which will make you lose more points when they enter your base. 4 player battle mode and Team Battle are both very similar. You play with 3 other people (Human or CPU), and try to get the highest score. Team Battle allows you to team up with another player, and play against another team of two. In Team Battle, each person still has their own base, however, when mice enter your teammates' base your total points will be shared. Cats also break down arrows after a few visits on them. Stage challenge is a very interesting mode. There are 5 different stages you try to complete they are Cat soccer, 100 mice, Get mice, Lunch time, and run away. In all these exciting modes you try to complete the goal. In cat soccer you try to get more cats into the opponents base than in yours. For 100 mice your goal is to get all 100 mice to your base in an amount of time. Lunch time is a mode in which you try to feed a cat all the mice in the board. For run away you try to avoid the cats and get to a base. Puzzle mode is a unique mode, in which you crack the puzzle of how to get mice into your base. You place a given amount of arrows on the board before the round officially starts. Then when you press the go button, mice will start coming out. If you've placed your arrows right, then all the mice will get into your base. However, there are still cats on the board, and if one of them goes into your ship you will lose. Once you press the go button, you may not repalce any arrows. In normal mode there are 25 boards and once you beat this, you will unlock Hard Mode which has 25 more difficult and challenging boards. Creating stages may be fun for people who like to be unique, and make their own levels for Chu Chu. You can select where the four bases go, along with any obstacles you want. Creating characters will allow you to pick colors and place them on a square. You can also watch them be animated. Exchange data will allow you to trade any boards or characters you've made. Help mode is basically an instruction book, incase you forget the rules or a certain part of the rules. Option Mode allows you to change the game to how you like. You can change the difficulty for battle modes, the controls, and look at your best records. Also, if you do not speak English, you can adjust the game into Japanese. For those of you who already own the DC version there are some differences between the two games. Some new features have been added when you get a ? mice including kitten mania, stealing mania, night time, and blindfold the winner. If you don't already own the DC version of this game I would recommend it. Otherwise, don't really bother because the differences are not large enough. Overall Score: 9.05 -Ze Potato- ![]() I was always doubtful Chu Chu Rocket would be a good game ever since I heard of it for the DC. Strangely, it came out to be a very good game, and the GBA version only reminds me of it. This is one of the best multiplayer games out there, and can give Bomberman a run for it's money. If you like puzzle games, and don't pick this game up, you should be ashamed of yourself. Overall Score: 9.125 ![]() Sega is king of all original games, and Chu Chu Rocket definetely proves it. Seeming so simple, it doesn't get hard until you actually try. Sonic Team really mixed Strategy and Puzzle elements together, as you will have to decide to play offensive or defensive. Sending Cats into opponent's bases will definetely help, you but not if you don't have enough mice. The balance is very good, and the one cartridge multiplayer can keep you playing for years. However, if you have the DC version, it is still the same basic gameplay. Overal Score: 8.75 |
