Taiwan Report from Third Yao Strike (Part 2)

Introduction

Since I picked up my GBA, I have once again looked around many stores in Taiwan, but this time instead of look at prices, I looked for details such as things around stores etc. Enjoy Part 2 of "The Taiwan Report".

Tidbits and Extra Info
This time around I looked for specific details such as which ads were up, and what people in general were buying. While there were many people looking at GBA games, there were many more people looking at PCs, Digital Cameras, etc. So I can conclude that PC games are a lot more popular in Taiwan. This was also proven by the fact that most ads in front of stores were advertising PC games such as Counter Strike, Mech Warrior, and Diablo 2. However, I did see some advertisements of PSO ver 2, Crazy Taxi 2, and Bomberman Tournament.

I found out the name of the place I went to, and it is really famous for it's computers in Taiwan. To find out more go to: Nova's Site. You'll need to know how to read chinese however. There's another well known place too, that I've been to and it competes with Nova. However, I forget the name of it. Guess i'll have to go back pretty soon. More tidbits include the fact that I found SF for 50NT cheaper or $1.50 cents cheaper. Just shows you if you wait a little longer prices will drop rapidly in Taiwan. >:0. I was thinking about picking Mario Kart for about $31, which will be cheaper than the US release by about 4 bucks. I also forgot to post that there is no Tax in Taiwan, as it is already included int the price. :) No more heavy pennies in your pocket.

How Popular is GBA Here? (Part 2)

It's a new month here, which means a whole new class session. All 3 of my old friends are now gone, so I met some new friends, and asked them what they thought about the GBA. One kid really like Street Fighter and was really into it. You could tell he played the original games, because he was pretty skilled. Also, another kid was refusing to try because he said he didn't like it. He's a troublemaker, so I think it's just the fact that he doesn't want to look "kiddy". I only got to let 2 kids play it. Hopefully I'll have more information in my next report.

On the subway station today I saw this group of teenages, so I decided to eavesdrop on them, and see what they were talking about. Nothing really of my intrest, but one kid did say: "Then why did you come over to play videogames?", in response to "I still had homework too!!". They were mainly making fun of some other kid for not turning on the air conditioner. :P Hope this helps, as there is not much more I can talk about right now. Stay tuned for: Taiwan Report: Part 3.
