This means some mean platforming skills are required along with splendid grahpics to accompany it. Enough can't be said about the graphics as they definetely match THPS2's and adds splendid colorful sprites. It is a bit better looking than the PSX version. This game is stuffed with gameplay, and it may seem boring at first as you only start out with the abilities to walk, crawl, and jump. However, as the game progresses you can do all sorts of things. Although I haven't beaten the game yet I can walk, crawl, jump, punch, hang on to the edge of platforms, use my fist to swing from place to place, and I have the almighty helicopter technique! This game seems easier than the PSX version, but still requires some skillful platforming experience. The enemies can be very hard to kill sometimes, because they duck under your punch. Major bosses may also join you such as the huge hornet. He allows you to get through the next part of the stage. Rayman will take a while to beat, as to get to the boss you have to find 6 cages in every stage. You can explore through the whole leven before you fight the boss, as sometimes it is impossible to find some cages the first time through since you don't have certain abilities. This is why you sometimes have to wait until you get something and come back to explore the stage. This gives the same feel you got in Donkey Kong 64. Sound is probably one of the worst parts of this game. It sounds kind on tinny and can be pretty annoying. Rayman's voice is pretty odd and the only thing you ever hear him say is, " Yeah!" or " Ow!" Most of the enemies sound equally bizarre, and all the music sounds like it was done on a whistle. Music is heavilly repeated as there are usually only a total of 5 notes for each stage, however, some music fits well into the game. In the world of rayman no one has any limbs. A few enemies might have legs but the is about it, making the game feel fantasy like. Enemies can be anything from strange old green people to big eyes in the walls that shoot lighting bolts at you. There are a wide variety of enemies which is quite neat. If you have a passion for rayman or platform games then I recommend picking this game up. Overall Score: 8.6 -Rossalameuw |
