For a decade and more Sony, Nintendo, and Sega (Although due to recent failure have become a software corporation) have controlled the video gaming industry. And just with any sector of commerce, when there are a number of well established giants, it's extremely rare to witness a new 
company risk entering that sector. But this is what exactly happened in the forth quarter of 2001.
Microsoft built the Xbox and launched thier product in 2001, presently making Microsoft the third company to participate in the video gaming marathon. All the non-believers (mainly the die-hard PS2 fans) predicted that the Xbox will be another Sega Dreamcast and disappear within a year making no dent in the universe. They stubbornly continue to protest that the PS2 is the ultimate gaming machine with its enormous gaming library (good portion of which consists of 32-Bit PSOne games). Without researching what the Xbox is, continued to say how more powerful the PS2 is and how better the graphics are on the PS2. Obviously, the anti-Xbox group blindly stood beside the aging PS2, continued to buy the console and games, investing money into a now very old and underpowered platform. To be continued... |
