About Us

History
Rusa is the third generation of this web site created by Glen Ian Lawson, the webmaster.  It all began in late 1998 with SA and ALL.  I tried to cover all topics that interested me and publish this into SA and ALL, with South Africa being my main focus, hence the first name.  After two years of no progress, SA in USA was created in June 2000 giving this web space more meaning and providing it's visitors with useful information and services.  I decided to just include the most important American issues within a South African based web site.  And playing with the abbreviations for both countries, my nationality (South African) and then the fact that I am now living in America (USA), I chose the second name SA in USA (A South African in the United States of America).
After one year with SA in USA building up its popularity, I wanted to change the name as well as its whole structure and purpose.  Hence Rusa came to be on the first of August 2001.

Why the name Rusa?
The name has originated from the abbreviations of two very different countries - USA, United States of America; RSA, Republic of South Africa.  Why these two countries?  Because I was born and lived my life in South Africa until my teens, then moved to America in 1998.  My goal is to produce a web site dealing with American and South African issues, as well as producing a South African feel for the web site.

What's Rusa's Goals and Purpose?
My primary goal is to show the world what South Africa is all about.  Even though RSA is a second world country (developing country), it's unique, tough and beautiful!
As for now, the purpose here is to introduce my readers to my "unique" point of view with as many topics as I can type up.  My goal here is to try expand the mind of the reader and with luck get a response or even yet my dream is to try change a mind or two, which probably won't happen.
Now that I live in America (first world country) and travel back to RSA three times a year, I would like to share my foot hold into America with other South Africans.  Because of these constant visits back to South Africa, I have created a "bridge" between the two countries.  I want to offer this as way of communication, business, transportation, etc. between USA and RSA.
