Steve Perry
Conan series
Steve Perry, and other authors have written a numbers of
books set in Robert E. Howards universe. I don't know if
there is any particular order for the new books or if they
fit into the originial time line. There seem to be at least
12 add on books in the series by various authors.
- Conan the Formidable - Conan encounters giants, goblins
and a kidnapping magician.
H. Beam Piper
- Little Fuzzy
- Fuzzy Sapiens
- Empire
- Federation
- Four Day Planet / Lone Star Planet
- Lord Kalvan of Otherwhen - The follow on book, Great
King's War was written a couple of decades after
Piper's death by Roland
Green and John F.
Carr. Both books are useful to me for gaming. They
show some of what it takes to increase tech levels.
Kalven is from 1960s America and gets dropped into an
alternate time line that is early gun powder tech level.
Besides having to fight a war, he tries to re-invent
technology to help him win both the war and the peace.
- Space Viking -
Frederick Pohl
- Gateway - To much psychological garbage in between the
space adventure parts.
Space Merchants Series
Advertising run amuck! Very good story. The first one was
published decades ago, with the second one coming many years
later.
- The Space Merchants (#1)
- The Merchant's War (#2)
Jerry Pournelle
I lost most of my Pournelle collection, along with most of my
SF&F collection, when I moved from Massachusetts to North
Carolina.
- Men of War
- A Step Farther Out
- Black Holes
- Future Quartet
Co-Dominion / Empire of Man Series
What I don't have listed are the books in what I think is
the War World sub series. I read a bunch of them, but not all
of them.
- High Justice (#1) - Supposedly the first book in the
setting, it pre-dates the actual Co-Dominion. Also of
note, it is cyber-punk from the other side mostly. The
setting is similar to the feel of cyber-punk, but the
characters are not the "punks" but the movers
and shakers that control that world.
- Exiles To Glory
- Birth of Fire - not really sure this is really part of
the Co-Dominion series. It seems to be the same universe,
but probably before the development of the interstellar
Alderson Drive.
- West of Honor - The first story that revolves around Col.
Falkenberg. Re-issued with The Mercenary plus
additional background material as Falkenberg's Legion.
- The Mercenary - Re-issued with West of Honor
plus additional background material as Falkenberg's
Legion.
- Falkenberg's Legion -
- Go Tell The Spartans -
- Prince of Mercenaries -
- King David's Spaceship - set in the 2nd Empire of Man at
about the same time as The Mote in Gods Eye.
- The Mote in Gods Eye - A prime First Contact novel.
- The Gripping Hand - direct follow up to The Mote in
Gods Eye. Takes place about 20 years later.
War World Series
This is a spin off of the Co-Dominion series. All the
stories take place, or involve on planet, but the series
covers some 1,200 years of history. Most of the stories were
written by other authors, but the story arc seems to have
been controlled by Pournelle.
- Warworld: The Burning Eye (#1)
Janissaries Series
- Janissaries (#1)
- Janissaries: Clan & Crown (#2)
- Janissaries: Storms of Victory (#3)
Imperial Stars
A series of books that Pournelle edited about future space
empires.
- The Stars at War (#1)
- Republic and Empire (#2)
- The Clash of Empire (#3)
Stand Alone Books with Larry
Niven
- Fallen Angels - also co-authored with Michael Flynn
- Footfall
- Inferno
- Lucifer's Hammer
- Oath of Fealty
-
Tim Powers
- The Drawing of the Dark - I really liked this book when I
bought it years ago. Yet another book I lost during a
move.
Terry Pratchett
Disc World Series
- The Colour of Magic (#1)
- The Light Fantastic (#2)
- Equal Rites (#3)
- Mort (#4)
- Sourcery (#5)
- Wyrd Sisters (#6)
- Pyramids (#7)
- Guards! Guards! (#8)
- Eric (#9)
- Moving Pictures (#10)
- Reaper Man (#11)
- Witches Abroad (#12)
