Numbering is in chronological order of the story. Books written after the originial series of 4 books, but that occur during the time covered by the originial books have a letter after their number.
The Council Wars series
Set about 1200 years from now. It's high tech reasons for sword and sorcery military fiction. I really like the use of Mother as an almost invisiable wish machine until the power fails. I could use it as a means to explain magic.

Science fiction tech group of Imperial Marines stuck on early iron age plant they must cross.

Guardians of the Flame
This series started in the mid 1980s, and is sort of based upo AD&D. Basic story is that a group of D&D style gamers are transported to the gaming world they had been playing in. Details of why are left for readers of the books. When they are transported, they get to keep both their Earth knowledge, but also their character knowledge. They have the skills their characters had, but can only use the skills. They don't have an understanding of the skills, and thus can not easily improve.
