July 20, Delaware Water Gap (Gateway Motel, Wind Gap, PA)

Another zero day! People are starting to joke about changing my trail name to "Lazy" because I seem to have become the Queen of Zero days! I can't say I'm too worried about it, though. If Tony can manage to make it up for a visit, I'm definitely going to take a day off to spend it with him. There will be plenty of later opportunities to make a day up if necessary.

So today we spent a good deal of time in nearby Stroudsburg where there's a laundromat. It's one of the few hiker necessities missing in Delaware Water Gap - that, & a grocery story. I kind of had an itching to catch a movie while we were in town, too, but nothing was showing that I was interested in seeing. So instead we ended up at the Super Wal-Mart for an hour - talk about culture shock! All those people, & bright, artificial lights & materialism every where! We wandered through the aisles to get some snacks & breakfast for tomorrow & also discovered a couple books on my "send" list, so I've now got Harry Potter #2 to keep me occupied. And we also got a 3 person tent, of all things! Finally when we go camping together, we'll have our own tent. Before,we always rented a tent from REI, which doesn't make great sense if we go very often because the cost over a year can easily buy a cheap Wal-Mart tent. So we finally took the plunge & got one. Tony set it up tonight in the motel parking lot to get an idea of it's size & what it's like, & it seems pretty good, We'll have to try it out when I get home in October!
