August 6, Upper Goose Pond Cabin - mile 1529.7

Nive View, eh? This is such a amazing place - I'm glad I pushed a long day to get here. Although in some ways I'm too exhausted to fully enjoy it! This large cabin is situated on the edge of a glacial pond, and it's almost like a resort. There's a gas range & refrigerator in the kitchen area, plus a whole table set up outside with water & bins for dish washing. And there's a fireplace that I'm positive would be fabulous to sit around on a cold fall night, sipping hot chocolate. Even the privies here are sophisticated - they had two seats, one for # 1 & the other for #2. Apparently everything decomposes better when the two are kept separate, which of course everybody knows but usually doesn't practice too carefully.

So now dark is falling & I've already enjoyed a dip in the pond to wash my feet and arms. which were splattered in blood from all the mosquitoes I've been hitting today. The water here is so clean & cool, for the first time, I actually wish I had something to go swimming in. I know a lot of people just swim in their clothes, but then I would have wet clothes to wear tomorrow since they certainly wouldn't dry overnight. There are also a couple of canoes but I'm far too tired to spend any time canoeing.

There are only two Nobo's here, plus a Sobo & a lot of weekenders, & I really hope I'm not bunking with a whole lot of snoreres, even though the certainly look like it. I guess we'll find out!
