August 8, Crystal Mtn Campsite - mile 1555

Whoa, it's hot! Last night I thought I would drown in my own sweat laying in my tent, listening to the traffic roar all night & having to pee on the tree several times. Today it feels again like we're in Savannah instead of Dalton. We walked around town most of the morning, doing "chores" & we were dripping just doing that. I couldn't believe how heavy my mail drop was, with all my winter gear in it & my boots. Not knowing when the first cold nights would hit, I had Tony send it fairly early just in case. But clearly I don't need it just yet, so I packed it all in another box & bounced it a couple of weeks up the trail.

Before we left Tom's place, he brought out two huge glasses of ice cream with whipped topping & chocolate sprinkles, to fortify us for the 5 miles of uphill hiking ahead. It was incredible! Another amazing trail angel in this lovely state of Massachusetts.
