Some of Candy's Canine Family

Candy (Woodie's mom) shares her stories on some more of her pets... sad to say most on this page (except for Rhoda) are no longer with Candy. But their stories and memories live on in the hearts of their family. As you read the stories you can see just how big the hearts are in Candy's family, as they've taken in many animals through out the years and given them second chances. Candy and her family are from Kingston Tennessee.

Candy's Family photo

On the top left there was Mutton, Mutt for short (looks like a schnoodle to us).... seems he wandered into their yard looking for a lady friend when Rhoda (bottom left) went into her first heat. Rhoda was then spayed, but Mutt decided he liked their house enough to stay. Occassionally he would visit his original owners for a few days, but would always returned to Candy's home for it was the home he knew and loved. Candy's family took care of Mutt, taking him to the vet, giving him regular baths and clipping him in the hot summer months.

Andy, top right, was a deaf Australian Shepard. Candy tells the story about how he became a family member.... "A friend called me and asked me to take this deaf Australian Shepard pup. I said 'no I really don't need a deaf dog'. Then 2 weeks later she called back and asked me to take him because he had gotten run over and had a broken leg. My husband jokes that deaf wasn't enough... he had to also have a broken leg!".

Sam, bottom left, came from several generations, his mother and grandmother had been in the family. Sam was thirteen and hanging out a young schnauzer pup named Charlee trying to teach him the ropes. Poor Sam he had his paws full with the young pup... he just didn't know you can't teach a schnauzer something unless they want to learn it!!

Last but not least, there's Rhoda... Rhoda came into the family when she was 5 weeks old she had mange and worms. They doctored her up and she now hangs out with her 2 best buds, Woodie (min. schnauzer) and Bo (giant schnauzer). Rhoda has quite the mother instinct for humans and horses alike. When a foal is born, Rhoda will not leave the stall for about 3 days.

Editor's Note: Obviously some of these are not schnauzers, but Candy's stories on both her rescue schnauzers and other canine rescues touched us so we included them.
