Promotion and membership committee formed

A committee on promotion and membership was instituted by the third SEAPAVAA general assembly held in Hanoi in March 1998. The Executive Council proposed the creation of this new committee to undertake the function of promotion and marketing. Ms. Jean Wein, acting manager of Marketing and Product Development Section of the National Film and Sound Archive of Australia was designated by the council to head the task force to set up this committee. At the General Assembly, Ms. Wein presented a paper outlining the promotion and marketing strategies for SEAPAVAA and the committee's terms of reference.

Mr. Jim Lindner, a respected authority in av restoration and a delegate in the Assembly, lauded the implementation of a promotions and marketing strategy since this area has often been neglected by other organizations. He also complimented SEAPAVAA for midwifing the birth of this committee.

At present, the committee has as its members Sarah Hunter from the Film Archive New Zealand, Bounchao Phichit from the Laos National Film Archive and Video Center and Ricky Orellana of Mowelfund Film Institute of the Philippines. To date, letters have been sent out to AV Archives in the region to promote SEAPAVAA and solicit membership.
