-Punctuation, spelling and capitals will be our focus through the use of our agendas (accuracy in copying messages that model good writing form) and we will also pursue this worthy self-editing goal soon in our personal dictionary/spellers. -P.A.R.I.S. -Novel Study: Hatchet by Gary Paulsen. We will conclude our study of Hatchet by: 1) considering in a large group the answers to two open-ended questions 2) creating more open-ended questions in small groups 3) brainstorming answers to these questions by meeting with peers 4) writing down our ideas in the form of a plan or bulleted list and 5) selecting two questions to answer fully in written paragraphs in our L.A. work books. -The remainder of our L.A. time will be
spent in preparation for our student-led conferences. |

-School: We will continue to write school subjects in brief, easy sentences using the conjugated verb, AIMER. -French is taught using the four modes/skills of learning. This means that all students have the opportunity to learn through listening, speaking, reading and writing. |

-We will continue to use our art techniques, the use of fonts, misting and wet-on-wet painting by applying these techniques to our daily work assignments in order to embellish them in preparation for grade 6 achievement and to present our work in a prideful manner. -Tessellations art/math
projects are being done this week.
We are working on two tessellations: the first is on square dot paper
and the second one is on isometric dot paper. |

tessellations this week. 2) We
have our next S.T.O.R.E. this Thursday afternoon. 3) We are concluding our Hatchet novel study by creating and
answering open-ended questions.
Tuesday: 1) Math: We are finishing our
tessellations and working on pentominos and spatial awareness cubes. 2) In science we observed our pretty
impressive bluing crystals. 3) Our
school has special lunch tomorrow.
Wednesday: 1) Math:
We graphed our timed number facts today.
2) Our class has Hepatitis B vaccinations tomorrow morning. 3) Thank you to the parents who are
volunteering during tomorrow afternoon’s S.T.O.R.E.. 4) We have library tomorrow as there is no formal school on
Friday due to the conferences.
Thursday: 1) Math: We’ve finished up with
geometry and will begin decimals after the break. 2) Our class’ Hepatitis B vaccinations were this
morning. 3) Mr Myers hopes to see
us sometime during the student-led conferences. This means that I get to guide you through my learning
during the past three months. 4)
Have a safe and blessed spring break.
