Most websites have an FAQ section, so I figured that I might as well, too.
- Who are you?
I am a 25 years old and I am a middle school band director. My goal is to create in my students a lifelong love of music. I have a variety of interests and a voracious love of learning, especially historical facts and pop culture facets. I also love to write and I love to write about music in any way possible.
- Why music?
Some people say that music is the greatest gift we can give back to nature. That art is the most unselfish thing we can give back to the world. I agree, and I want to bring that experience to as many students as possible.
- Where are you?
I live in Broward County, near Fort Lauderdale. I was born on Long Island, NY, and I grew up in Central Florida (in an around Orlando). I moved after graduating from UCF in May of 2007.
- What is that giant thing that you're carrying/playing?
It's a bassoon. It's a loud, low woodwind instrument played with a double reed. Isn't it amazing that such a big sound could come from a small reed and bocal? The larger instrument pictured on the main page is a contrabassoon, the lowest instrument in a symphony orchestra, also known as a double bassoon. It plays an octave lower than bassoon, simply transposing the octave.
