I've given up trying to really explain sideorderofninjas to most of my friends. They sort of give me a strange look like I'm from another planet. Wait, I got that look before I started the website. Tell your friends with pride you got a boxed set of Streetfighter movies. If you're lucky, they'll think about the Streetfighter cartoons. Probably, you'll get a look like "they made a sequel to the Van-Damme movie?" Then you try to explain Sonny Chiba. At least, I had them watch Storm Riders before. Would anyone out there believe, my site has been up for a year? Side Order of Ninjas has been kinda twitching since 2-23-2003. Been a long year since I had the original 8 reviews posted before I started actually started trying to get my site noticed. And more than 55 reviews later and more than 2600 hits on my reviews. Put a lot of work into sideorderofninjas. It is a labor of love. No one who does a site like this ever gets much recognition. It isn't done for recognition. The point is a love of movies. I had never really done much writing like this before I started Sideorderofninjas. Was surprised at what I could do after I've gotten some experience. There are a lot of sites that are designed better, have better writing, etc...But, I have worked to make it look better and continually tweak the code. But, an email saying "hey enjoyed the review" or "great site" is appreciated. Why geocities? I'd rather have my own URL. And maybe that will happen sooner or later. A URL is a line in the sand saying "Here I am, here I remain." It is a commitment. Rather ease in the water than jump in before checking how deep it is. I'm definitely getting used to it so far and easing in a little deeper. Most of my hits have to be from being randomly doing searches for the word ninja I think. The way I throw the ninja word around, it's not hard to imagine. I made the Keyword Search to show some of the stranger keywords that have led to my site. Well, what do I have in store for this next year? Plan to keep kinda twitching... It's worked so far. I'm still posting 1 review a week barring flood, famine, or family strike. Or computer problems. The past year has seen my power supply die. My motherboard die and need to be replaced. Having to replace that motherboard that replaced the dead original one. And the CPU, the second motherboard fried. Well, that's given me some experience on how to fieldstrip a computer at least. I plan on keeping this site going for as long as I can. And hopefully, everyone out there at least finds it a good way to kill some time and keep you from doing anything useful. |
