Meski demikian, dalam berbagai kajian filsafat kerap ditunjukkan
bahwa hubungan antara seks dan kematian sangat erat. Sajak-sajak
dan sejumlah cerpen Subagio Sastrowardoyo, umpamanya, juga banyak
mengeksplorasi tema seks dan kematian dan berusaha menegaskan
hubungan erat antara keduanya.

Konon Enny Arrow bukanlah nama asli ataupun nama samaran seorang
pengarang tertentu, melainkan nama samaran dari sejumlah
pengarang. Novel-novel ini biasanya dijual di tempat-tempat umum,
seperti terminal bus atau stasiun kereta api, dengan cara
sembunyi-sembunyi.

Novel-novel serial Nick Carter banyak beredar dalam versi
terjemahan bahasa Indonesia. Isinya adalah kisah petualangan
seorang spion bernama Nick Carter yang mengingatkan kita pada
tokoh James Bond 007. Dalam tugas-tugasnya, Nick biasanya
berkenalan dengan seorang wanita cantik, dan perkenalan itu
lazimnya lantas berakhir di atas ranjang. Bagian yang bisa
dianggap porno dalam serial Nick Carter biasanya hanya beberapa
halaman, berbeda dengan novel Enny Arrow yang hampir seluruh
isinya mengisahkan adegan mesum.

Di kampung halaman saya, daerah pedesaan di Ngawi, Jawa Timur,
yang udik dan relatif jauh dari kota besar, VCD porno bukan lagi
barang langka, sementara tempat-tempat penyewaan VCD pun telah
menjamur dan agaknya menjadi lahan bisnis yang menggiurkan.
