![]() SIGMA IS.........AN ALTERNATIVE      Sigma is one of four continuation high schools located on existing campuses. This school term is our ninth year in operation. SIGMA IS.........A NEW BEGINNING      We can't change the past. Sigma offers students an opportunity to start again with a clean slate, despite waht has occurred previously. Here's your chance to correct past actions. SIGMA IS.........SIZE      You won't get lost in the crowd at Sigma, because the crowd doesn't exist. We have 75-85 students and 6 staff memebers who are working to provide you with quality educational experiences. SIGMA IS.........LEARNING      Every student can learn and improve. Within the structure of eight periods, students are enrolled in core and elective classes. Our classes cover the "A through F" college requirements. Some graduates move to a four-year or Junior College. Other Grads pursue trade/technical training or seek immediate full time employment.      The school term is divided into four quarters. The Fall and Spring Semester are comprised of two quarters. Students can earn a maximum of 20 credits each quarter, totaling 80 credits for the entire school year. (in the traditional high schools, students usually earn 60 credits per year).      Each class schedual was personally designed by Mrs. Blake to meet individual academic needs and to satisfy graduation requirements. SIGMA IS.........A CONNECTION TO THE HOME      All staff members are responsible for keeping parents informed about student progress. The staff will make phone contact to the homes of absentees and inform parents of positive school accomplishments. SIGMA IS.........RECOGNITION      Mrs. Blake and the staff understand the importance of celebrating and recognizing student academic success and school achievement. Throughout the school year, in conjunction with student leadership, we will have barbecues, pizza days, attendance rewards, Honor Roll breakfast outings and an end of the year Awards Day. Please remember, however, that Mrs. Blake and the staff cannot assume the entire responsibility for planning and organizing every event. The assistance of student leaders is vital to ensure the success of our social activities.
