3000GT Homepage

I have recently purchased a 1994 Mitsubishi 3000 GT VR4. I was origanly looking at '94 3000 GT SL's and '92-'93 VR4's, but I stumbled along this one that a guy named James Sandusky was selling. I have only had it since mid-July, but I love. The other vehicle that I was thinking about was a '95 GMC Jimmy 4-Door, but I keept seeing them every place I went, so I decided to get something that was fun, non-economical, and was high performance. Enough of this here is some information about my car.

As I said before it is a 1994 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR4. This is the first year after they modified some of the exterior. About the only things they changed was all the trim around the car, they replaced the pop-up headlights with fixed ones, and they put a new hood on. There are two main performance diferneces that I know of from the old model. One is the upgrade from a 5-Speed Getrag Manual Transmission to a 6-Speed Getrag tranny, also the turbo's were replaced with ones that are rated to push 12 psi from the the old ones that only did 7. That has pushed the horse power past 320.

The difference between a VR4 and say the basemodel or SL is that it has twin turbo chargers. This mean the difference of about 100 HP. The SL/Baseline models I think only have around 220 HP.

The VR4 is also All Wheel Drive (AWD), and All Wheel Steering (AWS) at speed above 30 MPH.

The VR4 also comes with Active Aero. This kicks in at about 50 MPH and shuts off at about 35 MPH. This is were the back spoiler tilts up. This helps push the car down and stick to the road better. The front air damn lowers. This helps to keep air from getting under the car.

The VR4 also comes with Electronic Controled Suspense (ECS). You can choose between Sport and Tour. The Tour is used for everyday driving and gives you a softer ride. The Sport hardens the suspense to let you attack the corners better. If you turn on the Sport you will notice a definent difference in how hard it rides.

The VR4 also has Tuned Exhaust. With Tour/Sport selection. The Tour makes the exhaust quiter when the engine is under 3500 RPM, but above that it returns to the normal mode which is Sport. With Tour on you probably take a little performance hit, but you make all your power at around 6K RPM and that is well about 3500 RPM.

I believe the VR4 also comes standard with the following: All leather seats, Electric Drivers side seat with lumbar support, Infinety tape deck with 6 Disc CD Changer and 6 speaker setup, alarm/keyless entry, and Electronicly Controlled Climate System.

The VR4 also comes with all the other bells and whistles that you would normally see on an expensive car.

I recently replaced the Timeing belt and water pump on it. (It was 10K overdue when I got it).

I am now looking to replace the sparkplugs myself. I have picked up the maintnence manuals and it does not seem _too_ hard. My father has worked on cars his whole life, so it should be okay.
