| Gathering, Synthesizing and Creating |
| I am at
my best when learning about people, ideas or concepts, synthesizing
this learning and creating a useful product. The creation could be simple
and finished relatively quickly like a newsletter or brochure. It could
also be a long-term, complex project, such as a book or an administrative
program. Having a tangible product is important to me, whether I'm working
alone or with others.
Examples of past long-term projects are my Masters thesis, and the creation of the Literacy Program at Cumberland Regional College. Past examples of creating learning materials include: a basic skills handbook aimed at farmers, entitled Farming: Words to Live By; a distance education video / audio tape and workbook package entitled Let's Get Started, aimed at beginning writers; and co-authoring a basic Internet manual entitled Log On and Gopher It! used by Regional Colleges across Saskatchewan. |
