Peonies are probably my favorite flower. The perennial garden is quite large, and even though it is sectioned by colors (pinks/purples; reds/yellows; herbs; firs and bushes) there are peonies in almost every bed.
I planted a number of Chinese Tree peonies in Fall of 1998. Not all have bloomed yet; but this year, five new ones did. I'll have pictures of them a few pages on. If you see nothing else, be sure to visit peonies page 6, which has a graphic of this year's Black Panther Peony...it is gorgeous.
Although the recent purchases of tree peonies enjoy a bed of their own, these Festival Maxima, Sarah Bernhardt, and Top Brass flourish among Lady Guinevere and Black Knight delphinium, accented by generic foxglove. Pink Oriental Poppies in foreground.
Top Brass at left, purple allium in center.
